Caring for Your Pardesia Pieces
Every piece you own is brass at its core — finished in gold-tone plating or oxidised silver, and hand-detailed with stones, pearls, and beadwork. With a little care, that finish stays bright (or beautifully dark, for oxidised pieces) for years.
Before You Wear It
- Put your jewellery on last — after perfume, hairspray, and makeup, not before. These products dull plating faster than almost anything else.
- Avoid contact with lotions and oils directly on the piece.
While You Wear It
- Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising. Water — chlorinated, salty, or just sweat — is the number one cause of tarnish.
- Take it off before sleeping to avoid pulling or bending delicate chains and ghungroo.
Storage
- Store each piece separately, ideally in a soft pouch or lined box — pieces resting against each other can scratch stones or tangle chains.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and humidity. A drawer or box out of direct light is ideal.
- For oxidised silver pieces, store in a dry space; humidity speeds up natural darkening.
Cleaning
- Wipe gently after each wear with a soft, dry cloth to remove any residue.
- For gold-tone pieces: a dry microfibre cloth is enough for regular upkeep. Never use silver polish, chemical cleaners, or ultrasonic cleaners.
- For oxidised silver pieces: the dark patina is intentional — avoid polishing it away. A soft dry cloth to remove surface dust is all that's needed.
- Never soak any piece in water or cleaning solution.
A Note on Natural Wear
Because every piece is finished by hand and made from brass rather than solid precious metal, gradual colour change over months of wear is normal — it's part of how the material ages, not a fault. With the care above, that ageing is slow and graceful rather than sudden.
Material Honesty
All Pardesia pieces are imitation/artificial jewellery. All stones featured are synthetic (glass, acrylic, or cubic zirconia) — not natural or precious gemstones. Colours and finishes are for decorative representation only.
